About Rhona Duffy
Rhona Duffy spent nineteen years on the operations side of live poker. She started dealing in a small Dublin card room, moved to the floor, and finished as a floor supervisor and tournament director working regional card rooms and mid-sized circuit events in Ireland, the UK and Australia. The job is not glamorous. It is clock management, seat draws, chip races, and standing over a table at two in the morning deciding whether an out-of-turn action stands.
That experience is what she brings here. She writes the procedural material: how a hand is actually run, what happens when a card is exposed, how betting rounds are enforced, what a string bet is and why rooms treat it the way they do, and the many small differences between what a rulebook says and what a floor will actually rule. Where rooms genuinely differ, she says so rather than picking one house style and presenting it as universal.
Duffy does not write strategy, and she is direct that she was never a winning player of any consequence. Her authority is procedural, not competitive. She reads a ruling the way an editor reads copy — looking for the ambiguity someone will eventually exploit — and her standing view is that most arguments at a poker table are caused by two people using the same word to mean two different things.
